Sloan Publications, Inc. began as a writer’s dream of self publication after its President and Founder Diane A. (Sloan) Rhynes realized she possessed the necessary skills to write, publish and market her own personal writings. A graduate of the University of Akron, Ms. Rhynes has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Fine Arts from the Academy of Art University where she majored in Motion Pictures and Television with a concentration in Screenwriting.
In 2008 Sloan Publications, Inc., published children’s book, Olivia Stanley In: “I Believe In Me; I’ll Do My Best To Pass The Test,” written by Denaye Black, illustrated by Sierra J. Reese. Sloan Publications, Inc. also Rhema Word Magazine a bi-monthly Christian periodical which remained in circulation through the spring of 2010.
On Saturday, November 3, 2012, Sloan Publications, Inc. presented the Gospel stage play, “When You’ve Been Called,” at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall located at 198 Hill St. in Akron, Ohio with original music by upcoming Gospel recording artist Jocelyn Grant.
Akron playwright Diane A. (Sloan) Rhynes began writing as a child and published her first work at the age of 10 after being selected to attend a county-wide Young Author’s Conference in Mayfield, Ohio. Throughout her writing career, Diane has written everything from employee handbooks and manuals to press releases and grant proposals and has been published in several anthologies including Voices of Cleveland a Cleveland, State University publication. Diane also has journalism experience with the Akron Beacon Journal, Leader Publications and Record Publishing in Ohio.
In 2007, Diane founded Sloan Publications, Inc. (SPI) which published children’s book Olivia Stanley In: “I Believe In Me; I’ll Do My Best To Pass The Test,” Rhema Word Magazine a bi-monthly Christian periodical, and produced the Gospel stage play, “When You’ve Been Called”. SPI also published Diane’s first novel that shares the name of her stage play.
Diane has a BA in English from the University of Akron and a MFA in Motion Pictures and Television from the Academy of Art University.
She is the proud mother of one, Charles Xavier, who is her greatest source of inspiration.
