About Us

Sloan Publications, Inc. began as a writer’s dream of self publication after its President and Founder Diane A. (Sloan) Rhynes realized she possessed the necessary skills to write, publish and market her own personal writings. A graduate of the University of Akron, Ms. Rhynes has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Motion Pictures and Television majoring in Screenwriting at the Academy of Art University.

In 2008 Sloan Publications, Inc., published children’s book, Olivia Stanley In: “I Believe In Me; I’ll Do My Best To Pass The Test” written by Denaye Black, illustrated by Sierra J. Reese. Sloan Publications, Inc. also published Rhema Word Magazine a bi-monthly Christian periodical which remained in circulation through the spring of 2010.

On Saturday, November 3, 2012 Sloan Publications, Inc. proudly presented the Gospel stage play, “When You’ve Been Called” at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall located at 198 Hill St. in Akron, Ohio with original music by upcoming Gospel recording artist Jocelyn Grant.

In fact, she published her first work at the age of 10 after being selected to attend a county-wide Young Author’s Conference in Mayfield, Ohio. Throghout her writing career, Diane has written everything from employee handbooks and manuals to press releases and grant proposals. She has been published in several anthologies including Voices of Cleveland a Cleveland State University publication and has done freelance work for the Akron Beacon Journal, Leader Publications (publishers of the Westside and Green Leaders) and Record Publishing whose weekly periodicals include the Stow Sentry, Tallmadge Express, Bedford Times Register, Maple Heights Press and Record-Courier.

In 2007, Diane founded Sloan Publications, Inc. (SPI) after realizing she possessed the necessary skills to write, publish and market her own personal works. In 2008 SPI published children’s book Olivia Stanley In: “I Believe In Me; I’ll Do My Best To Pass The Test” written by Denaye Black, illustrated by Sierra J. Reese. SPI also published Rhema Word Magazine a bi-monthly Christina periodical which remained in circulation through the spring of 2010.

Most recently, Diane wrote, is co-directing and producing the Gospel stage play, “When You’ve Been Called” which will debut at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall located at 198 Hill St. in Akron, Ohio on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 7:30 pm. She is also completing her first novel of the same title.

Diane has a BA in English from the University of Akron and is pursuing a MFA in Motion Pictures and Television from the Academy of Art University.

She is the proud mother of one, Charles Xavier, who is her greatest source of inspiration.
